Marcona almonds are smooth and juicy with an incomparably sweet delicate taste -- quite a different flavor than their American cousins. And our particular Marconas are size 16+ - the largest grade produced in the world. These almonds are lightly sauteed in oil, sprinkled with sea salt and then sealed in a jar for freshness. Almonds are one of the healthiest snacks. The nutrient density is so high that a small portion provides substantial nutrients. They also have a high content of cholesterol fighting mono unsaturated oil. A recent study showed that when people eat roughly a handful of almonds a day, they lowered their LDL cholesterol by 3%! There is a very limited supply of marcona almonds, since Spain is the only source of almonds in the world. In addition, the trees are early bloomers, which make them vulnerable to late spring frosts. The groves are found along the Mediterranean coasts of Spain -- from the southern coast of Malaga, proceeding east up the coast to Tarragona. You may be familiar with almonds in light brown porous shells. These marcona almonds have a protective hard shell that resists insects, so that they may be grown naturally with no need for herbicides. ---

These Marcona almonds are without doubt the best almonds I've ever tasted. They are much milder and a little softer than traditional almonds, but I think much better. I couldn't stop eating them and would definitely order them again.

Don't eat anything with BHA. From wikipedia:
E320 or Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) is an additive that accumulates in the body fat. It is known to cause cancer in animals and disrupt the body's hormone balance. Laboratory studies have shown BHA causes cancer and results in detrimental reproductive effects in rats. [2] It is banned in foods for infants and young children in Australia and has been banned in Japan since 1958. Official committees of experts recommended that it be banned in the UK, however because of industry pressure it was not. McDonald's eliminated BHA from their US products in 1986 due to the harmful effects.

I just received my almonds, and they are without a doubt the best Marconas I've had; I searched high and low for them - tried Wegman's and Balducci's (formerly Sutton Place Gourmet) and thought they would have them, but no such luck. I found them at Trader Joe's, but they did not look that great and weren't very good; the price was good, but the quality was ok. I will be ordering these Marconas again real soon!

These almonds are by far the best Marcona Almonds available. I first found them @ Williams and Sonoma and absolutly loved them. Williams and Sonoma no longer carries them :( Try them you'll love them.
