Mmmm-mmm! November 30, 2008 When you love Indian food, but don't have the time to cook it, Kitchens of India is a really great alternative. I have yet to be disappointed in one of their dishes and this one is no exception. The great thing about Indian food is that they are mostly sauce (or "gravy" as they say), so I will cook up some meat or steam up some veggies and add one of these packets to make a fabulous meal. Their really aren't much in the way of veggies in these packets, but that is typical in Indian food, no matter where it comes from. American's tend to use gravy or sauce as the secondary component while Indian's use it as the primary component and sop it up with lots of bread or rice. By steaming or sauteing some additional vittles, you can really stretch one of these packets.
Pretty good November 23, 2008 This is a pretty solid palak paneer. Not restaurant quality, but it's close. I agree that the liquid is a little too thin, but the taste is good.
Very Good November 18, 2008 Good, tasty product! It arrived on time as well. I'd certainly order this again.
Poor taste and nutrition November 16, 2008 I've never been a big fan of palak (spinach). However, the major problem with this item is that the palak gravy is too thin and the paneer tastes really bad.
To make matters worse, the sodium level in this product is ridiculously high. I bought this product thinking that it would be slightly more healthy compared to other packed-food products but the high-sodium level ruined it.
That said, some of the other products by this brand, for example 'dal bukhara' and 'rajma', taste much better. And if you are looking for healthy food, I guess you should be looking somewhere else. Buying some fresh vegetables at the local grocery store might be a good start in that regard.
Excellent November 10, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My first taste of this brand. Had purchased Tasty Bite in the past. This was on special, so ordered several flavors. This was excellent, as was the other flavor...other was spicier, but loved it. Boiled the bag and served it with the other flavor and rice. I guess we have big appetites since we finished both package with the rice and some Naan, in one meal..
