I've been 40 years without Skinners Raison Bran. Just recently, I decided to try to find out if it was still made. I got on the internet and found that it was made by US Mills and so contacted them direct. I found that I could buy from them direct or from Amazon.com. I ordered one box direct from the mill and could'nt wait for it arrive. I kept wondering if it would still have that wonderful taste that I still rememberd. And remember I did. Skinners has always had a unique rich flaver that is unlike and other raison brand on the market. It is easy to get hooked on that crunchy whole wheat goodness. Since, I have ordered from Amazon and hope they keep it in stock.
Three generations of skinner's fans! July 20, 2008 Infrequent critic (NY, NY)
My Dad introduced us to Skinner's years ago. We are now three generations and extended family fans of this cereal. We have some dissenters in the family and I am controversial because I prefer my skinner's on the soggy side as that allows all the flavor to emerge from the cereal. One look at the nutritional value of Skinner's versus Post or Kellogg's on the basis of sodium (skinner's very low) and fiber (skinner's very high) will tell you to give this a try. I admit the taste is maybe not for everybody as it isn't sweet but I have always found it to have a raisin in every bite and we enjoy it.
Delicious! May 6, 2008 Pilgrim (Kansas, America)
Skinner's Raisin Bran has been my favorite cold cereal for years, and it is becoming harder to find every time I look for it. Several grocers have told me it is not made any more, but one suggested Amazon.com. I tried it, and found that Amazon.com sells the original product, and it has not been changed. It's just as delicious as ever. All it needs is a bit of cold milk, nothing else. It has enough good chewy raisins to give it a wonderful, natural sweetness without any sweetener at all. But it is the rich, hearty flavor of the natural grain that is its best quality, just like in the old days. Thanks, Amazon, for making it available.
Healthier alternative to Sugary Raisin Bran April 27, 2008 C. Woodruff (Tulsa, OK USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This cereal is a lot healthier than the Post Raisin Bran and other cereals! It has far less sugar and other things in it. If you eat cereal to get all the fake taste, don't buy this one, because you will only taste real bran flakes and good raisins. I've been eating this cereal for about 50 years. My Dad and I would get up every morning and make a bowl of this and eat it together before going on our way. It brings back great memories. It also helps with your digestion.
Growing up with Skinners March 26, 2008 Linda T. Humphrey (Claremont, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I discovered Skinner's Raisin Bran when I was a child, growing up in Ashland, KY. It was the only raisin bran that didn't get soggy when I addded milk. When I left Kentucky, I could not find Skinners anywhere. Then I moved to Claremont, CA and for a few years, one of the health food stores carried it--and then it stopped. On a whim, I checked the internet, and there it was. Since then I hae been ordering 6 boxes every few months, and I love it. It still remains crisp, fresh and yummy. I am a grateful fan.
