This set of four 19-1/2-ounce Marquis Vintage deep red wine glasses each stand 8-3/4 inches tall. With an elongated bowl that narrows slightly toward the mouth, this set is specifically proportioned for heavier wines, such as cabernet sauvignon, merlot, or syrah. The shape of the bowl allows the wine to breathe properly and for the aroma to be appreciated to its full extent. Waterford recommends washing all fine crystal by hand in moderately hot water with a mixture of mild lemon detergent and ammonia in order to preserve the quality and brilliance of the crystal for many years. These are not hand blown glasses as more expensive stemware is, but they have a very nice shaped and a relatively thin bowl. The crystal maintains a nice "ring" to it and has a pleasant feel. For the money, these are excellent glasses. I'll be buying another set as I accidentally knocked one glass of my current set off my kitchen counter.

If you're drinking a variety of wine out of the same plain glass (i.e., not crystal) wine glass, I can not stress (though I was dubious at first) what a difference it makes to 1) drink out of crystal, and 2)to match the wine your drinking to the bowl and shape of the stemware. Though not high-end or as specialized as Reidel or Spieglau (or Waterford, for that matter), these glasses are VERY serviceable, indeed.
