Very Important SongSeptember 23, 2008 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
While this isn't the best version of this song I've heard -- The Dropkick Murphey's still hold claim to that title -- it's a good rendition of a very important song. Many would call this an anti-war song, and I suppose it is, but IMO it's really just a song about the horrors of war. I believe it was written by Eric Bogle in the early 70's during the height of the vietnam war, but it tells the story of a soldier that died during WWI - the War to End All Wars. It's frightening how nobody learns from the lessons of the past and we keep getting drawn into conflicts.
Give this song a listen and pay special attention the message in the lyrics.
