So simple it couldn't be easier to use. The ability to find stations in all corners of the world makes this a learning experience as well as entertaining. If you remember the old shortwave sets and how unreliable they were, this is the updated version that will be enjoyable for everyone.
Very Disappointed December 28, 2008 A. Jones 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This was a Christmas present for my husband, so was very disappointed when he tried it and nothing happened. So now I have to call the manufacturer to have it replaced. I would not advise to buy.
No longer at the mercy of my browser December 27, 2008 K. Cohen (Washington, DC)
At first, I didn't think it made sense to pay for something that I can get for free, since you can listen to most if not all of these stations via your browser. There are two things I see as reasons to pay for this. First, all the stations are nicely categorized and easily accessible via this device. Second, and most important, whenever my browser crashes or freezes up, the music keeps playing since I am not accessing the music via my web browser. That happened twice today. I have Vista and this works fine. You have to deal with Vista's nanny-like security features, but that is not unique to this product.
A little wonder December 14, 2008 Howg490
The Aluratek Internet Jukebox is an absolutely fabulous device. I am having some difficulty with it in that there are annoying periodic gaps in the reception. The tech support people have been quite responsive, but as yet have not come up with the solution. The overall novelty and enjoyment is so great, however, that I don't hesitate to recommend it (I have ordered two more to give as gifts to my grandchildren) despite any glitches.

Sure you can look up radio stations on the web yourself, but this has a wide selection preloaded. I like to find a local station broadcasting a big story and get the perspective of the people there living it, anywhere in the world, while it's happening. Also good for eliminating atmospheric static on AM stations at night when you want to listen to a ballgame somewhere out of range. World music is available anytime you want from most parts of the planet.
