Amazon.com Product Description Removing wallpaper often ends up in removing part of the sheet rock or plaster. No matter how careful you are with the putty knife you're going to do more damage than intended. For years contractors have relied on the power of steam to separate the paper from the surface and now that same power is available for the DIY'er in the Wagner 705 Electric Wallpaper Steamer. Simply place the 8-inch or 11-inch steam plate cover against the paper surface and viola, the paper practically peels itself. You can operate the Steamer for up to 1-1/4 hours on a single fill of the 1-gallon tank plus the 11-foot hose allows the user to move freely about the rooms without disturbing the tank. --C. work saverDecember 1, 2008 I had started taking down a room of wallpaper only to find out it was not going to come down. It took me over an hour to get small strips off using my hands and a blade. I found the steamer on line and it came within two days. It took me two days and all the wallpaper was off and the room was ready for paint. It pealed off like butter at times. I plan to use it in another room next and know it will do a great job. Well worth the price, plus it stores away very nicely.
Steam plate could be largerNovember 15, 2008 While this steamer does get the wallpaper off, I just wish that the steam plate was larger. It works best if you leave the steam plate on the wall for at least 20 seconds. Then it takes 2 seconds to scrape off the wallpaper. If the plate covered more surface area, the job would get done quicker. I am currently looking for a larger steam plate since I have a very large room to do. I still would recommend this product without hesitation. It is nice not to have to use any chemicals.
Worth Every PennyNovember 2, 2008 I had spent days trying to take off old wallpaper which had been put up without any wall sizing or preparation. Tried everything including vinegar and hot water, the commercial spray preparation, an old steam iron, etc. Finally, decided to order the Wagner Wallpaper Remover and had the room finished in one day! It is worth every penny spent on it and the water lasts about an hour and a half. Great product!
you get what you pay for...October 19, 2008 I ordered this and used it to remove wallpaper that has been in my grandmothers house for over thirty years and it did the job. The only bad thing about the steamer is that you do have to watch how much you steam the drywall. The problem with it is if you stem too little it doesn't budge and too much you damage the wall so i would just be careful with the steam. You will probubly end up having to patch the drywall in a few places if you have an older home so plan on that expense.
Just as other reviews said, tips were helpfulOctober 10, 2008 I read the other ratings from customers on this item before I purchased it and went ahead based on the reviews. All were correct, easy etc. I especially appreciated the warnings about using around children, having a bucket nearby, and the fact that it has no on or off. Works great.
