5 out of 5 stars So much fun, thank you Ubisoft!   October 29, 2008
Okay so it isn't going to win any realism awards but I'm having a blast playing this game. Some of the planes suck, but some are just so fun! Very diverse set of missions and objectives that kept me very entertained. I especially loved supporting the D-Day invasion and the liberation of Paris. Flying in this game is as satisfying a feeling as any flight sim I've ever played and more than most. Maybe when it was 60 dollars I would have given it 4 stars but I still think it would have been very much worth it, but at 20 dollars it's a no brainer. If you are interested in WW2 and aren't too much of a stickler for realism do yourself a favor and buy this game.

3 out of 5 stars Multiplayer Fun   October 3, 2008

Overall this is a very good multiplayer game; however, if you are looking for a good game to play through a campaign, I urge you to look elsewhere. I am all for a challenge, but this game can get very hard. I found myself mostly frustrated with it. First of all, you cannot pick a level setting, it is automatically on hard and only gets progressively harder as you work through the game. Secondly, you are pretty much on your own as your squad mates will do virtually nothing.
There are several multiplayer modes but the one that is the most fun is the dual. I have not gotten a chance to play online however. The other modes such as co-op dogfight can also be frustrating as the computer puts too many enemy planes in the air at a time. 10 on 2 odds does not provide a fair or fun challenge for the most part.
If you enjoy a difficult challenge, this may be the game for you. As for me, playing the game in story mode is not worth the headache. The only reason why I gave this game 3 stars is because it has good graphics, sound, and multiplayer modes. It is definitely not worth the 30 some dollar price tag after shipping and handling. If you are seriously wanting to play the game, I suggest you rent before you buy.

3 out of 5 stars Fun *Arcade* sim, but man, too hard, too hard   August 4, 2008

I have been hacking away at this game for hours, mostly on the Midway mission that some other reviewers have got stuck on. I keep thinking there must be some secret but I haven't found it yet and I seem to lose by a very large amount every time. I have tried about 20 times now to beat it and I'm about to give up.

Its not much of a flight sim either. Still, still waiting for an actual flight sim on a console.

An actual flight sim would limit the plane to the actual weapons it could carry. One or two bombs, maybe eight rockets, and nine-yard belts for the automatic weapons. Too boring? Probably. Most pilots flew 5 or 6 missions before seeing the enemy and average pilots that survived got 2-3 kills their entire career. Only the greatest pilots in the world became Aces (5 kills) and only several dozen shot down over say twenty. Look, Richard Bong is the american Ace of Aces and he has 40 kills. I had 40 kills after 2 missions, and the Midway mission you are shooting down squadrons of Japanese Naval bombers and LOSING. heh.

So is it realistic? Nah. Its really fun some of the missions but I think the Midway mission is too hard at this point. I am relatively proud of my ability to figure out tough games. Usually if you try something three times and it doesn't work then do it differently. I can't figure out how to do this, For my next attempt I don't think I will aggressively attack, and just see if I can win by actually staying over the airfield.

5 out of 5 stars Blazing Angels is a lot of fun   March 10, 2008
My son and I are having a blast playing with each other and against. Easy to learn for the most part and to earn new combat situations. So far, the missions have been relatively easy but I know that the harder ones are coming up. Great game.

5 out of 5 stars just flying a plane   February 13, 2008
So I am not a fan of the 6ax controller but here we have the option of the antalog. Other PS3 games dont give that up. The story is ture and worthy of its record. This game is frustrating as it gets towards the end nevertheless it is by far "The Best Game I Have Ever Played" for any system. Worth just turning it on and blowing things out of the sky.
