Overall an excellent and addicting game December 1, 2008 This game is a lot of fun. I have played about 10 hours over a 3 day period. Putting is not a problem and I don't spend 5 minutes lining up my shot. It's a video game and you learn the control scheme. Even the normal swing feels nothing like real golf. In real golf you let the club do the work, not the case with an 8oz controller. My point is the control scheme is fun and much better than a traditional controller, but its not real golf. My biggest challenge is learning how each element of the game works together. Items like consistent partial (50%) swings, hitting out of the sand trap, hitting from hill side, the different types of chips, ect... Its not completely clear, but the fun part is the learning process.
I recommend this game.
EA Strikes Again November 30, 2008 I've been wanting a Wii since they first came out, so the other day I bought one. Unfortunately I broke one of my biggest rules as well... NEVER buy anything EA and bought this game at the same time. This is the first Tiger Woods game I've ever played on the Wii, so I can't compare it to earlier versions. Like most people say, this game is great, right until you're on the green. However, after reading other peoples reviews and tips I've learned that putting is all in the wrist, and with practice it can be done pretty easily, although feeling very unnatural. My biggest gripe is when the putt preview says it will go in the hole but then it falls short, and when you setup your second shot and again it says it will go in but falls short AGAIN. If I were hitting it weak that would be one thing, but it happens when I hit it at 100%. Why it it that EA always feels the need to make a great game, step back and look at it, and then say "It's too good, wreck (fill in a part of any EA game here)." Maybe they're afraid we won't all run out and buy next years model if they finally get one right.
TIGER WOODS 09 WII November 24, 2008 THIS GAME IS A LOT OF FUN ONCE YOU FIGURE OUT HOW TO PLAY IT.USE THE ALL PLAY FEATURE.
It's hard, but so is real golf. November 19, 2008 Just want to talk about the putting, because the rest of the game is phenomenal. Yes, the putting is hard, but it's still not as hard as putting is in real life. Some of these other reviewers have obviously played more golf video games than real rounds. The putting takes admittedly a couple days at least to get used to, but I've had the game about a week and I've nearly mastered it. I put on this game about the same that I do on an actual golf course. You just have to move the target back from the default position and estimate the power you need. Not that hard to figure out.
The rest of the game is terrific. The PGA tour is so immersive and potentially time-consuming that you'll forget to spend time on the real course! There's also tons of minigames and alternate modes, like showdowns with pro golfers, but I haven't gotten the chance to play much of these yet.
Bottom line is that this game is REALISTIC. That means it's difficult. But don't kid yourself, a real game is substantially harder.
Different but fun November 13, 2008 Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 All-Play This game is fun to play but much more of a challenge after playing the 2008 version. The putting is harder and to get a good swing in is more difficult even at the easy level. I can get really frustrated because I had gotten pretty good at the 2008 game and now I have to start all over again finding my nich. But it's the challenge that makes the game fun and trying to figure out how the the game is set up is fun and can be really frustrating at times. If you don't have patience and have the 2008 game keep playing the old one because this one is not easy. Good luck and have lots of fun with the game.
