Will not you download programsDecember 2, 2008 I bought Driver Genius. When I tried to download this program I was put into a loop that would require buying an additional copy. If you follow the instructions after you are given your registration number will put you into this loop. The other programs I have bought from Avanquest also have problems that make them useless.
Not Much of a GeniusSeptember 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I rated Driver Genius (DR) a 3 for several reasons. First, tech support never answered a single email. Second, it found 10 "critical driver updates," but only downloaded 5 (it can't count). Third, DR does not automatically download the updates, you have to click on each one and choose Download. Fourth, not a one of the updated drivers were "automatically" installed by DR; I had to launch each set up program. Fifth, after scanning again it listed the same updated drivers I had previously downloaded (but it doesn't show them installed). The Help section says to right click on the downloaded driver, and choose Hide. No such option as Hide. Ok, I got 5 drivers updated, it was worth that, because it would take hours of delving into some confusing manufactures website to even find the drivers. DR doesn't download beta drivers, so you don't get a nasty surprise.
Trial version...not the complet version.January 3, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I'll make this hopefully short.
1. As I said, this is the trial version of Driver Genius. The full version off the internet cost me (I think it was) $39 dollars. 2. You will be given 15 days to get free updates before you are cut off from updates. 3. I have both the internet download and the Amazon.com version. When I tried to install the Amazon version over mine (it appeared to have better control board and maybe easier to use) I was asked to sign up to purchase permission to use it--again. It would not take my licenes key and serial code numbers--I think I can find a way a around that problem. 4. My version works fine. 5. My version will track down all drivers my system needs to operate. six. Neither version will tarack down drivers for games or other user added software for business programs and such.
The bottom line: The full version (like I have) is worth it--but I think you should be aware this is the 'trial' version.
